New tool to help build larger components

12.03.2014
Aarbakke has invested in a machining tool that will help it win new types of jobs involving larger subsea and downhole components.

The company, known for its excellence in machining smaller components will use the Integrex e-800H II machine from Mazak to help specify jobs it would have had to sub-contract in the past.

The high performing milling and turning tool will enable the company to build large subsea and downhole equipment e.g. Subsea connectors, riser systems, tubing hangers and BOP's to a scale uncommon amongst manufacturers in Norway.

“We do a lot of components today but we haven’t had the machining capability to make our own at this size. This gives us the opportunity to provide a wider scope of subsea and downhole components. We used to have to sub-supply these components. Now we have the control over this ourselves,” said Jan Erik Selliken, Aarbakke Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

The Integrex e-800H II has a large capacity envelope for processing of large and heavy components with the flexibility to process a wide variety of components due to tailstock range.

The turning and milling spindle delivers cutting capability across a range of difficult to machine materials.
